We have gone through a number of cameras as we are active and take them with us. After the last one was ruined by water again I did some research and discovered this one. Have used it now on two vacations and love it. Very durable and waterproof on the boat! Doesn't matter if it gets splashed while taking fun pictures. The speed burst fuction is great and you can catch some fun shots. You just have to be willing to go back and sort through a TON of pictures to find the ones you want to keep since it takes so many. The batter life is not as long as I would have liked so I purchased a second battery to keep on hand.

We got this camera for our Great Barrier Reef Trip, where we did 3 days of snorkeling in up to 10ft of water. The camera performed with no complaints. We've now had this camera 5 months and are quite happy using as our every day point and shoot.
Pros:
The images are very sharp and colors are vibrant.
Camera use is very easy with many shooting modes including food, face, pet, panoramic, etc.
Not bad shutter lag in low light situations.
Very sturdy and durable.
Cons:
It may be Panasonic, and a little nitpicky, but the push button feel and sound selection of the clicks are electronicky and seem cheap.

This camera takes really nice pictures for its price ($228) and it's even water proof. I wouldn't suggest anyone to submerge it under water because I've heard about all the problems ppl were getting but at least it can take some water spills with no problem.

Love the hi res videos this camera produces. It makes some internal noises that can be loud when playing your video back. I haven't tested it in water yet. But the sound is super, the picture is amazing, and it slips into a pocket. I gave the portability a four, because the lens placement is in a precarious spot. I often put my fingers across it, and have to be conscious of it while shooting. I ordered the back up battery, so I never run out of time.
